Sprint Expands Nextel Direct Send Services

SprintSprint today announced the availability of Nextel Direct Send Picture, this service will allow users with compatible Nextel handsets to send and receive pictures while on a Push to Talk call. Users will now be able to discuss images that may pertain to the conversation while keeping the call open. Sprint released Direct Send last year, which allowed users to push contacts to other users contact list. As a promotion Sprint is offering this enhancement free of charge to all eligible users through February 2006. After the promotional period users will be charged $0.25 per image sent and received. Direct Send Picture is now available on the recently announced Motorola i870, and will be included on all future Nextel phones. Software upgrades to enable Direct Send Picture will also be available for select Nextel phone models already in the market including the Motorola i850, i760, i560, i355 and i275.
