Verizon Wireless and Research In Motion (RIM) announced today the availability of the new BlackBerry 7130e, the first BlackBerry handset to take advantage of Verizon’s EVDO network. Additional features for the 7130e include: MMS (Multimedia Message Service), Bluetooth (hands-free and car kit support), high resolution easy to read LCD display and tethered modem capability to use device as a modem on Verizon’s wireless broadband network. While the RIM documentation makes references to MMS capability in 7130e, devices shipped from Verizon do not have the capability. I originally thought this might have been due to a missing pre-requisite feature code on my account, but VZ tech suppport has confirmed that MMS is not supported (and the options have been removed) on Verizon 7130e devices.
