Cingular Releases 2125 SmartPhone

December 11th, 2005

Cingular Wireless 2125
Cingular released today the company branded 2125 SmartPhone (aka the HTC Faraday). The Cingular 2125 is the Windows Mobile 5 replacement of the Audiovox SMT5600, which is being phased out by the provider. The Cingular 2125 and the SMT5600 share similar form and design with a minor difference in the main navigation key. One distinguishing characteristic of the 2125 is the oddly shaped hump towards the top of the handset, this hump was rumored to be the Wi-Fi component enabling an alternative source of wireless internet access. Unfortunately Cingular opted against Wi-Fi for the 2125. Cingular is also rumored to be announcing availability of the 8125, PDA style Smartphone, which will offer Wi-Fi, before the end of the holiday season.

The Cingular 2125 features include:

  • Microsoft Windows Mobile 5.0 Smartphone Edition
  • Quad band (850/900/1800/1900) GSM/GPRS/EDGE
  • 1.3 MP camera and video phone
  • Bluetooth
  • Office Mobile - Outlook/Word/Excel/Explorer
