Cingular to Cease Location Based Services
December 15th, 2005Cingular Wireless stated to day that it plans to cease location based services currently available on AT&T Wireless’s mMode services. “Find Friends†and “Find Things Nearby†location based services (LBS) offered the ability to determine persons location based upon the three closest cell towers. Cingular spokespersons have stated the legacy networks are not capable of offering such a service to its fullest capacity at this time. Cingular plans to offer enhanced location based services for MEdia Net subscribers in the future.
