Cingular UMTS HSDPA Coverage Revealed
January 21st, 2006Since we write many articles on Cingular Wireless and their new Broadband Connect service with UMTS/HSDPA capabilities, we get many requests for coverage maps. We have compiled a list of current UMTS/HSDPA coverage maps for regions offered by Cingular Wireless.
Regions in Blue will indicate UMTS/HSDPA coverage, while Orange will indicate GPRS/EDGE.

Cingular announced availability of HSDPA at speeds of 400-700 kbit/s in December 2005, under the brand name “BroadbandConnect”. Cingular faces competitive pressure from operators such as Verizon Wireless and Sprint who use a competing 3G technology, 1xEV-DO, and who have already deployed a similar high speed data service.
