Sprint Unveils Text to Landline Service
April 25th, 2006
Recognizing the popularity of text messaging, Sprint Nextel introduced its new Text to Landline service, which enables customers to text messages to wired phones.
With Text to Landline, Sprint customers can quickly touch base with someone on a landline phone, even when a voice call might not be convenient. As more and more people begin to rely on text, IM and chat services for quick communication, this offering is just one more way that Sprint is making sure our customers have a wide range of options to meet all their messaging needs.
The service is designed to send text messages converted to voicemail messages on a landline phone. The Text to Landline service is being offered to customers who own 2-way text-messaging-capable phones. The service calls for users to compose a text message and send it to a 10-digit landline number in the United States. Once the message connects with the landline number, the text message will be automatically read to the recipient, who has the opportunity to respond with a text message or a recorded voice message.
