Cingular Launches 3G Wireless in Little Rock

September 25th, 2006

Cingular HSDPACingular Wireless has expanded its 3G footprint into the Little Rock Arkansas market over this past weekend. Cingular 3G, tagged as BroadbandConnect, offers average download data speeds between 400- 700 kilobits per second with bursts to over one megabit. The company currently provides 3G services in more than 80 cities and towns located nearby more than 20 major metropolitan markets.

Cingular had also rolled out 3G services in Indianapolis just prior to this release, further expanding its market share of Broadband wireless services.

Unlike rivals Verizon Wireless and Sprint Nextel, Cingular is powering its next-generation network with high-speed downlink packet access (HSDPA) technology. Verizon Wireless and Sprint have both committed to CDMA-based EV-DO and its successor EV-DO Revision A.

Expect Cingular to make more announcements of 3G expansion during the last quarter of ’06.
