New MVNO Red Pocket Mobile Launches

September 27th, 2006

Red Pocket Mobile for Chinese-AmericansMotorola and Red Pocket Mobile today announced the release of the first handsets sold by a U.S. wireless service provider with Chinese-language menus. The MOTORAZR V3, and the entry-level Motorola C139 both now offer users Chinese language options when purchased through new wireless operator Red Pocket Mobile.

Red Pocket Mobile is the first wireless provider in the U.S. to focus exclusively on customers who live in the U.S. but maintain strong ties to Asia. In addition to providing Chinese-language Motorola handsets, Red Pocket Mobile’s customer service representatives speak Mandarin and Cantonese dialects of Chinese along with English. Red Pocket also offers an eyebrow-raising calling plan: a phone call to China, Singapore or Taiwan costs exactly the same as a call within the U.S.
