
Batelco, EMS and RIM Launch BlackBerry in Bahrain
October 3rd, 2006Batelco, Emitac Mobile Solutions (EMS) and Research In Motion (RIM), today announced the first launch of BlackBerry in the Kingdom of Bahrain. RIM is the developer of the popular BlackBerry wireless platform. EMS is a Dubai-based mobile systems integrator and provider of wireless business solutions. The BlackBerry solution is available immediately in Batelco shops and for corporate customers through Batelco account managers.

BlackBerry provides mobile professionals with secure wireless access to email, phone, Internet, text messaging, organizer and corporate data applications from a single device. The first BlackBerry handset to be launched in the Kingdom of Bahrain is the BlackBerry 8700g.
The BlackBerry 8700g is a quad-band handset that operates on Batelco’s GSM/GPRS network and delivers fast performance for web browsing and other mobile applications. In addition, the BlackBerry 8700g provides a bright, high resolution LCD screen that supports more than 65,000 colors and delivers vivid graphics. It incorporates an intelligent light-sensing technology that automatically adjusts the screen and keyboard lighting to provide optimized viewing in outdoor, indoor and dark environments. The BlackBerry 8700g also includes premium phone features including dedicated phone keys, smart dialing, conference calling, speed dialing, call forwarding, speakerphone and Bluetooth support for hands-free use with car kits and wireless headsets.
