
ENTEL PCS selects HSPA solution from Ericsson
December 14th, 2006Ericsson is bringing the first HSPA-enabled 3G/WCDMA commercial network in Latin America to a Chilean operator, ENTEL PCS. Ericsson will also expand and modernize ENTEL PCS’s existing network with Ericsson’s Mobile Softswitch solution.
Under the sole-supplier agreement, Ericsson will provide new 2G and 3G/WCDMA core and radio networks, including mobile softswitch and HSPA. Ericsson will have the prime-integrator role and will provide network deployment, systems integration and business consulting services.
Ericsson’s HSPA solution will enable ENTEL PCS to break through with a new generation of mobile broadband services, delivering true broadband speed of up to 3.6Mbps. ENTEL PCS subscribers will also enjoy a richer communication experience.
With Ericsson’s Mobile Softswitch solution, ENTEL PCS has taken an important step towards an all-IP network and it will be able to cost-efficiently offer a wide range of new and differentiating multimedia services.
